WELCOME TO SILVERTINE

[Whether you were eating dinner, fighting someone, or being dead, you now find yourself tossed into a bustling world. The air here is hot and humid from being caught between a warm ocean, a swamp, and a ridge of mountains; everything smells of grease and dirt and wet pavement. Canvas and clockwork airships zoom overhead, nestling like so many birds in the shadows of the biggest mountain. A castle and the city walls are etched into the hillside. It seems to form the foundation of the entire city.

The townspeople are busy with their own lives, and they seem to take no notice of the newcomers, only pointing toward the looming castle if asked for assistance and ignoring anything else. For the most part, they're dressed in a mixture of Victorian fashion and whatever a magnet can attract. Some of them have cat ears, or wolf tails, or horns, or tiny wings. It's so commonplace that it won't even turn heads if you have them, too.

This strange city seems to have everything: a castle, an airship port, a grassy park, a hospital, a farmer's market, shops with clockwork-styled robots, armor and weapons shops, an inn, a theme park and fair... Everything is free to the Otherworlders as well, though there is a theory that the ruling council might be getting their payment some other way. The gates open at dawn and shut at dusk, and outside of them lies a wide open plain supposedly infested with monsters.

How will you spend your day in this strange place?]

[...well, this is weird.

Looking around quickly, the confusion running through Utena's head only increases. That is, until it's replaced with something else. Himemiya--where was Himemiya?! She has to get back...

When she notices Kratos, she immediately goes over to Kratos and taps him on the shoulder.] Ah... excuse me, but do you have any idea where we are?

[And here he was trying to be inconspicuous. He sees her coming and pulls back a little before she can touch him.]

I do not. [His voice is low and rich, and marked with disappointment.] The townspeople call it Silvertine, but the castle gates are locked to visitors.

[She frowns, disappointed as well.]

Great... how the heck did we get here? [A pause, frowning more.] ...you know, I wouldn't exactly call us visitors to this place.

There's no explanation for it.

[His lips form a deep frown.]

It's closed to the public at large. The situation doesn't look like it will improve just yet.

Man... [Siiigh.] It's pretty strange, huh? Being taken to some unknown place right beneath your nose like this... it almost feels unreal, like it's not really happening.

[Except Utena's pretty sure it is. She's definitely acquainted with 'strange'--dueling for a girl who acts like a human scabbard and supposedly holds the power of eternity under a floating, upside down castle... while she doesn't believe Himemiya actually possesses that kind of power, none if it could be defined as 'normal.']

[He shakes his head slowly. He's sure he isn't dreaming.]

Considering the reactions of the residents-- or lack thereof-- this may be a regular occurrence.

Then they probably won't be too willing to help us out...

[Not good. Who knows how long they might be here?]

The authorities could be useful, but they seem more interested in observing. [He says that last word with more than a trace of disgust. He hates being treated like an experiment.] There may still be a way in... or a way out.

We wouldn't know unless we tried, right? [And she would have no problem with trying. She has to get back to Himemiya...]

[The redhead is all business.]

There is strength in numbers. We should look for the others.

Yeah, you're probably right. [Sigh.] Got any ideas about where we should start looking?

The castle at the top of the city. Even if we cannot enter, it seems the most likely place to find someone just as lost as we are.
